After making the alternative build of a dragonfly from a motorcycle box, I felt like making a better version. One that is more true to the measures and sizes of an existing dragonfly. But it had to be in lime, a color I started appreciating recently. It turns out there is a dragonfly with a lot of lime it its color scheme : the female Southern Hawker. This web page of the Britsh Dragonfly Society has some nice pictures.
In this MOC, the wings and the legs are far too thick and heavy, but I saw no other practical way. They are so thin and fragile compared to the rest of the body, yet so incredibly strong for their dimensions that that will be hard if not impossible to model in my favorite bricks. It would be awesome to also include the web of ‘bones’ ( for my lack of a better word ) in the wings. I tried it in an earlier version, but it just looks too bulky. I considered going for a much bigger scale, using liftarms. One may get the web right, but it would be quite heavy and difficult to attach to the body.
