Let me know what you think about the design, and please do let me know if you are actually going to make one.
After the level 1 Menger sponge, a level 2 version could not be missing. It requires 20 level 1 Menger sponges and some axles and pins to connect them all together. Once one gets how that works, a level 3 Menger sponge can be imagined as well. Unfortunately, making the manual for the level 2 version stretched the limits of my laptop, so I will not publish a level 3 version any time soon.
Also, I do not really expect anyone to build it, because it will be quite costly in terms of bricks and work hours. The level 2 version takes about 32.000 bricks. A level 3 version would be about 20 times that. Here is table to compare the dimensions of the different levels. The last row is estimated, the rest of the data comes from Studio’s model info function. Level 0 is not a Menger sponge, but the basic cube out of which the higher levels are being made.
| Level | Brick count | size in studs | size in cm | Weight in Kg |
| 0 | 74 | 7 x 7 x 7 | 5,5 x 5,5 x 5,5 | 0,039 |
| 1 | 1624 | 19 x 19 x 19 | 15,1 x 15,1 x 15,1 | 0,841 |
| 2 | 32768 | 55 x 55 x 55 | 44 x 44 x 44 | 17,0 |
| 3 | 655688 | 163 x 163 x 163 | 130 x 130 x 130 | 340 |
