
This is a proof of concept of friction-based stabilizers. Hopefully, it is an inspiration to include the spine or such stabilizers in MOCs. If so, see this introduction to friction-based stabilizers.
Here are some pictures of what you could do with this ‘spine’ and what its limitations are.

The spine can bend backwards.

With very sharp angles, the glider axle can pop out of the friction connector.

Add friction with part 41678 or 69819. The spine becomes stronger, and the gliders cannot pop out, but it cannot bend backwards anymore. It can still get straight, though.
