Nobody knew, but Tauntauns aren’t white all the time. During summer their head and most of their body turn reddish brown. Like, exactly the reddish brown of the Forest animals: Red Fox set. What an opportunity to make a MOC. Here are some more renders. Actual photos further below.

The head, paws/legs and tail of the model can move. The head cannot look up. That’s by choice because I preferred not to have the ball joint to visible. The thick neck can swing forward and backwards to upright. It can even swing left and right.
The overall result is that the MOC is highly pose-able. In principle, it can stand on its own without the ground plate. Like the T-rex, the Tauntaun is ‘forward’ heavy, which is why it has the big tail as a counterweight, but also these enormous feet. For some postures the tips of the claws really need to touch the floor to make it stand by itself. So, trying different postures is a matter of carefully balancing all the body parts, not least the tail. See the pictures below

In the pictures you may notice that the right foot is different from the left. That is because I ruined the hinge of the right ankle and had to improvise with a ball joint. I also noticed that the indexed hinges give a lot of friction but they wear out quickly and loose a lot of their strength. In that case the model may not be able to stand at all, not by itself, and perhaps not even with the ground plate.
